Alzheimer's disease (AD) often has a complex genetic architecture. Until late 2013, only 10 genes had consistently been implicated as risk genes for AD:

Number Gene
1. ApoE-ε4
2. BIN1
3. CLU
4. ABCA7
5. CR1
6. PICALM
7. MS4A6A
8. CD33
9. MS4A6E
10. CD2AP

The above table tends to order the SNPs by size of Odds ratios

Also SNPs in other genes with large effect have been discovered:

1. TREM2
2. PLD3

Many genes have recently been linked to Alzheimer's in a large study called the International Genomics of Alzheimer's Project (IGAP).

(b) These are newly confirmed AD genes in IGAP.
