The fifteenth intervention to reverse mild Alzheimer's in the Bredesen Protocol is:

Goal: 25OH-D3 = 50-80ng/ml (earlier version of the protocol was 50-100)
Approach: Vitamins D3, K2

Optimal levels of vitamin D are now believed to be in the 50-80ng/ml range. To figure out your optimal dose (usually taken as vitamin D3): decide on your goal, subtract your current level, and multiply by 100 to get the dose. For example, if your goal is 60, and you find out that your current level is 25, then (60-25) x 100 = 3500IU per day. If you are taking vitamin D3 at more than 1000 IU per day, it is a good idea to include vitamin K2 at 200mcg per day, as well.

25OH-D3 (Calcifediol) is measured in the blood to determine vitamin D status.
